James Mason (cricketer)

James Ernest Mason (29 October 1876 – 8 February 1938) was an English cricketer. Mason was a right-handed batsman. He was born at Blackheath, Kent and educated at Tonbridge School, where he showed promise as a batsman.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Wisden - Obituaries in 1938 )
Mason made a single first-class appearance for Kent against Yorkshire at Headingley in the 1900 County Championship.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=First-Class Matches played by James Mason )〕 He batted once in this match, scoring a single run in Kent's first-innings, before being dismissed by Schofield Haigh, with the match ending in a draw.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Yorkshire v Kent, 1900 County Championship )〕 He later played for Berkshire in the Minor Counties Championship, making a single appearance in 1905 against Monmouthshire.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Minor Counties Championship Matches played by James Mason )
Outside of cricket Mason worked as a solicitor, prior to 1912 he had been in partnership with a William Weed, however the partnership was dissolved in July 1912. He was later a legal partner at Amery-Parkes and Company with four other people, however this partnership in its then structure was dissolved in December 1914 following the retirement of a partner. This firm though continued under a different structure. He died at Wallington, Surrey on 8 February 1938. His brother, Jack, played Test cricket for England and captained Kent. Another brother, Charles, also played first-class cricket.
